The headline stat

10 kills, 22 assists, second-highest fight participation in the match

Bristleback isn’t supposed to have a kill count like this. Radiant won anyway.

Ten kills and twenty-two assists on seven deaths is an outstanding line for this hero, and a 65.3% teamfight participation that ranked second in the entire lobby — behind only my own team’s Vengeful Spirit at 79.6%. Dire brought the aggression from the opening whistle. It just wasn’t the side that ended up destroying the other team’s Ancient.

4:20

First blood, and it wasn’t even close

GroovyBaron’s Vengeful Spirit claimed it at 4:20 in a four-Dire gank on Weaver, with Anllar’s Pugna, ^034^1rus’s Shadow Fiend, and myself all credited on the assist. It was a fast, decisive-looking start — and it told you almost nothing about how the next forty-seven minutes would go.

the nemesis stat

HOLOSHKA’s Drow Ranger had a hand in six of my seven deaths — two direct kills (9:06, 30:21) and four more as an assist, riding shotgun with whichever hero got the killing blow. The only death that didn’t involve her was Lycan’s alone at 23:03. I got some of it back on the other side of that lane rivalry: Queryy’s Ogre Magi died to me four separate times (11:54, 24:13, 25:26, 32:37), then returned the favor late, landing the killing blow on me twice in the final ten minutes (44:46, 50:39).

14:20–51:20

The shape of the loss

Dire actually drew first blood on the map too — a Radiant tower fell at 14:20, and two more went down before the 33-minute mark. None of it held. zaraza’s Lina alone personally destroyed thirteen Dire structures across the match, from the first tier-one tower at 24:10 through the Ancient itself at 51:20, and her 20,129 tower damage was more than five times what any other player on either team put up. Roshan changed hands once each way — Radiant’s Ogre Magi took the first at 30:33, Anllar’s Pugna answered for Dire at 48:26 — and neither aegis moved the result.

Ten kills and a 79.6% teamfight number on your own support says the team was never far from winning any individual fight. One Radiant carry quietly taking the map apart in the background says something else about who actually won the game.
