The headline stat
My teammate went 28 and 2. We still lost.
Sakura’s Windranger finished 28/2/19 with a 27-kill streak and 90.4% teamfight participation. Tusk (me) went 3/13/27. Only one of those lines belonged to the winning team, and it wasn’t either of ours.
Radiant’s Lina and Viper did the actual damage: 8 structures personally credited to lucifer de l’enfer’s Lina alone in the last quarter of the match, and five personal kills on me from EE313’s Viper along the way. A 27-kill streak on one hero wasn’t enough to outrun that.
17:00–61:50
Viper, five times over
EE313’s Viper killed me five separate times (17:00, 19:19, 23:15, 46:58, 55:47), by far the most one hero managed against me all game. Shadow Shaman got me twice directly (22:07, 30:12) and his own ward once (25:40); Lina and Warlock each caught me twice more. My three kills were all team-fight finishes with heavy help — Shadow Shaman twice (37:00, 59:12) and Juggernaut once (48:34) — which is roughly the shape of a 3/13/27 line: I was in almost every fight, I just wasn’t the one landing the killing blow.
the shape of the loss
lucifer de l’enfer’s Lina personally took eight structures in the match’s last quarter — the mid tier-three and both mid racks at 47:49–47:59, the bottom tier-three and range rax by 48:26, the top tier-three and range rax by 51:58, and the last bottom rax at 61:42. EE313’s Viper (19/14/17, first blood) and Il_Mario’s Juggernaut (12/13/15, both tier-fours between them) did the rest. Sakura’s 28/2/19 was the best individual line on either team and it still wasn’t enough — Dire’s other four players combined for 23 kills and 54 deaths.
15:10–62:59
Both sides lost every tier-one. Only one side kept rebuilding.
All six tier-one towers were gone by 35:35, three each. Dire’s tier-twos went early as well, all three by 30:53 — but Radiant held two of its three tier-twos almost the whole game, only losing them late (56:48, 60:11) in a push that came after Dire’s own base was already gone. That base went in one stretch: every Dire tier-three and every rack fell between 47:49 and 52:02, eight structures in barely four minutes. Roshan went one each way (42:10 ours, 54:57 theirs), and neither kill changed where the game was headed. A mega creep wave finished the job on the fort itself at 62:59.
Twenty-eight kills and two deaths is usually how you win a game. This time it was just the most interesting line on the scoreboard of a loss.
