The headline stat

Twenty-one kills, four deaths

Not my line. That’s what the enemy Ember Spirit did to us, and it’s the entire reason this game went the way it did.

King of nothing’s Ember Spirit finished 21/4/27 with 85.7% teamfight participation and personally claimed First Blood at 4:01 in a four-man gank on our Warlock. My own night was a lot quieter and a lot worse: 2/11/16 on Faceless Void, with the lowest hero damage of anyone in the match (9,463) and a chronoless game — the timing hero who never found a moment worth using it on.

15:31–46:59

A tie for nemesis, again

Shadow Shaman’s group and Ember Spirit each accounted for three of my eleven deaths — Shadow Shaman’s ward caught me first at 15:31, then the hero himself twice more at 17:38 and 19:30; Ember Spirit picked up his three at 22:56, 29:27, and 43:17. Winter Wyvern and Juggernaut split two apiece. I got a small amount of it back — Winter Wyvern at 37:43, and Ember Spirit himself at 45:49, two minutes before the game ended.

16:54–47:03

Nearly a clean sweep the other way

Dire took Roshan uncontested at 35:00 and, structures-wise, this was close to the mirror image of the games on this blog where we’ve done the sweeping: we took exactly one Dire tower the entire match, at 16:54. Everything else — 26 buildings in total, both sets of barracks, every tower, the fort at 47:03 — went to Dire.

correction

Queen of Pain’s stats read as zero here too, and this post used it to generalize a “reconnect-shaped gap” theory covering all three instances so far (The Lead We Couldn’t Hold, Untouched, and this one). That theory was wrong. All three were the same plain bug: a hero-ID-to-combat-log-name mapping error in the parsing script, not a gap in what the replay actually records. Fixed now, with the real numbers in the table below.

Some games you lose to your own mistakes. This one we mostly just lost to Ember Spirit.
